IOM and CTU’s new step to consolidate a trainers pool on Human Trafficking issues
IOM Jordan, in close cooperation with the Counter Trafficking Unit, Ministry of Interior, last week facilitated the first of a series of trainings on counter trafficking for police officers and labor inspectors.
The project aims to promote the cascade training, which builds the capacities of a group of specialists to act as trainers for other governmental and non-governmental partners. Topics addressed during this two days’ capacity building session included national and international legal frameworks, best practices in identifying victims of human trafficking, and the role of NGOs and IOM in the protection of the victims.
The sessions were a result of IOM’s sustainable and scalable approach to capacity building activities for the Jordanian Authorities. Sessions held by IOM last April and June 2015 facilitated the ‘training of trainers’, in close collaboration with the Jordanian Counter Trafficking Unit (CTU) and the Ministry of Interior.
Captain Ahmed al-Nawasira, who delivered one of the trainings, said “IOM training was very useful to develop my skills in public speech, presentations, course management and also for the preparation of the materials. I did my own research and took the information from reliable sources like UN, IOM or OECD reports.”
The activities are part of a project funded by the Italian Government that aims to reinforce the training capabilities of the Jordanian Counter Trafficking Unit by consolidating a team of experts capable to pass on training to other public employees that are exposed to human trafficking cases in their daily work.
