Amman, Jordan, 29 February 2024 – Today marks an important step in bolstering emergency health services for the people in Gaza, as the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Direct Relief collaborate to assist the Jordanian Royal Medical Services.

Through the partnership with IOM, Direct Relief has generously donated a fully equipped level-2 medical field hospital, featuring additional level-3 capabilities, to the Jordanian Royal Medical Services. Comprising 50 beds, 38 tents, and a comprehensive array of medical and surgical equipment, along with vital medications, this donation aims to strengthen the already existing RMS capacity within Gaza. IOM will additionally equip the field hospital with two large generators and 10 climate control systems to ensure optimal operational conditions for surgical and pharmaceutical facilities.

Gaza Donation

This donation is the result of the strategic partnership between the International Organization for Migration and Direct Relief, reflecting the joint commitment to strengthen health support to crisis-affected populations worldwide. This critical assistance will empower the Jordanian Royal Medical Services to promptly and effectively respond to the acute health needs of the Gaza population.

“Our partnership with Direct Relief provides vital, high-level medical equipment and supplies to support critical health assistance RMS is providing through two field hospitals in Gaza. We are grateful for the long-lasting partnership with RMS and JAF, including the Directorate of Border Security/Civil Military Coordination Center, and will continue to contribute to their efforts in providing life-saving medical assistance. We look forward to broadening our partnership with Direct Relief, enhancing emergency health services to crisis-affected populations”, stressed Tajma Kurt, IOM Jordan Chief of Mission.

Gaza Donation

The Royal Medical Services, with its various medical and administrative teams, is working in full swing to provide extended medical services to the brothers in Gaza, and we are grateful for all the support received from the IOM and Direct Relief, further allowing us to enhance our emergency health assistance, in light of the severe danger represented by the collapse of the health sector in Gaza”, stated Brigadier Dr. Yousef Zurayqat, Director of the Jordanian Royal Medical Services.

Through this partnership, IOM and Direct Relief aspire to elevate healthcare access and services for the people in Gaza, and the long-term endeavors of the Jordanian Royal Medical Services in delivering emergency healthcare through their field hospital operations.
